Antioxidant Acái

Antioxidant Acái

1 cup Frozen Blueberries

1 cup Frozen Blackberries

8 Medjool Dates

1/2 cup Pineapple Juice

1 Scoop Acái Powder

Blend all ingredients and top with strawberries, banana, dates, papaya, Blackberries and Blueberries.

This recipe is a super defender against free radicals and other airborne illnesses. It contains an extremely high ORAC value. ORAC values are a measure of the antioxidant activity.  It measures the degree and length of time it takes to inhibit the action of an oxidizing agent. Antioxidants inhibit oxidation which is known to have a damaging effect on tissues. Studies now suggest that consuming fruits and vegetables with a high ORAC value may slow down the aging process in both the body and brain.

So nutritious, delicious and easy to make!

Are you tired after you eat? Here's why!

Keeping the love going this morning with a sweet and nutritious breakfast! (Recipes Below)

This breakfast is fast nutrition.  Since the fat in Chia Seeds and Hemp Hearts isn't Saturated and essential for the body, it is metabolized quickly. The nutrition in dates is energizing and also used immediately by the body. When you eat whole foods that have no chemicals or by products your body is energized because it uses the food as fuel instead of using fuel and energy to break down the food and figure out what to do with the byproducts. You should never feel tired after you eat. You should be eating to feed the body to maintain health. When you feel tired after you eat, it means the body is working too hard to digest your food causing stress on the body instead of feeding it. Take note after you eat and ask yourself.... Am I feeding my body nutrition or feeding my mind what it's been taught to think is food?

Raw Chocolate Rolled in Hemp Hearts:

8 Medjool Dates
3 tbsp @navitasnaturals Cacao Powder
2 tbsp Raw Honey
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Nutmeg
1 drop of Pure Lemon Extract

Blend ingredients in a food processor until it forms a log. Form into balls and roll in Hemp Hearts.

Peanut Butter Bites Rolled in China Seeds

8 Medjool Dates
3 tbsp Powdered Peanuts (FitPB)
2 tbsp Pure Maple Syrup

Blend all ingredients in a food processor. Take a chunk and drop it into the chia seeds then roll into a ball.

Yum!

Super Salad with Ginger Dressing Recipe

Super Salad 🥗

Parsley, Avocado, Beets and Cucumbers

Dressing: 2 tsps @bragglivefoods Liquid Aminos
                 1 tsp Fresh Grated Ginger

The health benefits of this salad are incredible and there are so many that I couldn't possibly list them all.  Here's a little overview of health benefits:

1. Parsley: Reduced disk for cancer, helps control diabetes, and reduces inflammation and pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, along with helping prevent osteoporosis. It also acts as a pain reliever with anti-inflammatory properties. It can provide relief from gastrointestinal issues such as indigestion, stomach cramps, bloating, and nausea, while helping to strengthen the immune system.

2. Beets: Beets help lower blood pressure which comes from the naturally occurring nitrates in beets, which are converted into nitric oxide in your body. Nitric oxide, in turn, helps to relax and dilate your blood vessels, improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure. Beets are a unique source of betaine, a nutrient that helps protects cells, proteins, and enzymes from environmental stress. It's also known to help fight inflammation, protect internal organs, improve vascular risk factors, enhance performance, and likely help prevent numerous chronic diseases. They also help the body detox!

3. Avocado:  Recent studies have shown the addition of avocado to an already well-balanced diet lowers the risk of heart disease, improves blood levels of LDL, and lowers levels of oxidative stress in the bloodstream following consumption of food. They also help the body have a higher absorption rate of carotenoids which are pigments that help protect the body from diseases.

4. Cucumbers: Cucumbers are made up of 95 percent water, making them an ideal hydrating food. Cucumbers contain an anti-inflammatory flavonol called fisetin that plays an important role in your brain health. They also contain polyphenols called lignans, which may help to lower your risk of breast, uterine, ovarian, and prostate cancers

5. Liquid Aminos: Bragg Liquid Aminos is a non-GMO Project Verified liquid protein concentrate, derived from soybeans. It contains 16 naturally-occuring Essential and non essential Amino Acids

6. Ginger: helps with digestion and is known to boost bone health and relieve joint pain

To boost your immunity and improve your general overall health this is a great salad to add to your diet & it's delicious!

What to eat to improve circulation!

Circulation is very important to maintaining our health! Improving your circulation can reduce your risk of heart attacks and strokes, as well as reduce the symptoms of arthritis and diabetes. Here's a great list of foods that will improve your circulation!

Avocados contain heart-healthy omega 3 fatty acids which research has shown to support the cardiovascular system and increase blood circulation.

Cocoa contains flavonoids which is naturally found in plants and fruits and has been well linked to improving blood circulation. A study published in the Circulation Journal showed that dark chocolate rich in natural flavonoids improved blood circulation when compared with white chocolate with no flavonoids.

Oranges and citrus fruits high in vitamin C are natural blood thinners and are believed to help strengthen capillary walls and prevent plaque build-up which is a leading cause to poor circulation.

Garlic has many uses and one of them is it cleanses the blood and helps prevent plaque build-up. Other foods in the bulb group such as radishes, onions and leeks are also good at stimulating blood flow.

These delicious berries are high in fibre to help boost the immune system as well as increasing blood circulation.

Ginger is known for helping nausea and digestion problems as well as increasing blood circulation.

One of the world's oldest surviving tree species, Ginkgo biloba dilates blood vessels and in doing so increases blood flow. It is also thought to increase blood flow to the brain.

Watermelons are rich in lycopene which is a natural antioxidant linked to improving circulation. Lycopene is a natural pigment which gives certain foods their reddish color.

Cayenne has been associated with increasing metabolic rate and strengthening arteries and blood vessels.

Sunflower seeds are rich in vitamin E which is shown to help keep blood clots from forming which  helps improve circulation.

By simply incorporating these foods into your diet, you will gradually see marked improvement in your health. Consistency is the key to maintaining full body wellness and with a variety of ways to increase your intake of these foods, through teas, tonics, juices, curries and a plethora of other delicious ways, it should be easy to improve your circulation and keep it that way!

1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean or extract
Dash Black Pepper
Dash Cayenne Pepper

Adding the extra coconut oil will turn this simple Raw Chocolate into a smooth chocolate raw mouse cheesecake but will load this treat with fat. Although this recipe is still raw, vegan, chemical free, gluten free with no GMO's the high fat content makes it a splurge you should eat on occasion

Health Benefits:

1. Cacoa -

Cacao powder is an unfiltered and more nutritious version of cocoa! Cacao is a super food that has dietary fiber, polyphenols and Magnesium! Polyphenols in Cacao help reduce cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases, metabolic disorders, and is used for cancer prevention. Their antioxidant properties may be responsible for many of their pharmacological effects, including the inhibition of lipid peroxidation and the protection of LDL-cholesterol against oxidation, and increase resistance to oxidative stress. The phenolics from cacao also modify the glycemic response and the lipid profile, decreasing platelet function and inflammation along with diastolic and systolic arterial pressures, which, taken together, may reduce the risk of cardiovascular mortality. Cocao polyphenols can also reduce and improve digestion.  Cacao protects against diseases which oxidative stress is a contributor to, such as cancer.

2. Dates:

The significant amount of minerals found in dates make it a super food for strengthening bones and fighting off painful and debilitating diseases like osteoporosis. Dates contain selenium, manganese, copper, and magnesium, all of which are integral to healthy bone development and strength, particularly as people begin to age and their bones gradually weaken. They also increase your sex drive

3. Honey -

Possesses antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Honey has been known to help heal wounds, control acid reflux, reduce stomach inflammation and reduce allergy symptoms. (*studies are still being conducted to scientifically show the benefits on a molecular level but historically honey has been known to benefit the aforementioned ailments)
4. Cinnamon-

Cinnamon may reduce inflammation, have antioxidant effects, and fight bacteria. Lab studies have found that cinnamon may lower blood sugar and help reduce cholesterol levels. It's has also been used as an appetite suppressant as well as a  natural sweetener to replace refined sugar or artificial sweeteners.

Conclusion:

By learning how certain ingredients can change the health benefits of a dish, we can vary the ingredients to insure we are balanced in our eating. Making the vegan option more often for health centered meals, adding a little something extra for a balanced meal and going all out for a splurge by making educated cooking choices. That's how you create a lifestyle you can live with. Enjoy!
