Spend time with people who are good for your mental health!

Mental Health is one of the most important yet most ignored part of our existence.  There use to be a stigma about mental health issues and people who suffered from them were essentially shunned from the community or told to suppress it and hide it. This has culminated to where we are today living in a world where people are afraid to send their children to school because they could be shot by an unstable child or even an extremely disturbed adult.  Where suicide is no longer shocking and everyone is on a pill for anxiety, ADD, ADHD without the therapy needed to work through the cause.
.
.
Having grown up in a family with huge mental health issues that were just ignored, enabled or the person was medicated without any psychological help, I have learned that who you surround yourself with plays a huge part in your mental health. As the saying goes you can lead your family and friends to the psychiatrist but you can’t force them to drink the water!  Ok ok I made up that saying but it’s true.
.
.
As I navigate my way around motherhood and parenting I have watched my daughter positively and negatively react to people which shows me that some people are good for you and some aren’t.  If you’re working on your mental health and doing what you can to live a  positive productive life that can by all means include cutting people out who aren’t.  We all share energy and who you surround yourself with fuels some of the energy around you which helps guide you towards being happy inside and out.
.
.
So while I always try to give someone the benefit of the doubt or the opportunity to show me that they are working towards dealing with their issues, I honestly steer clear of people once I realize they have a negative affect on me or aren’t willing to do the work to get the help they need.
.
.
It’s very important for your own mental health to surround yourself with people who are good for you! The goal in life is to be happy and have fulfillment with your desires so surrounding yourself with people who are good for your mental health is one of the most helpful things you can do for yourself. Life is to short to spend time with shitty people.

Monday Mornings.......Life..... Its what you make of it!

HHave you ever had anything you truly loved taken from you or worked for something with every ounce of your being just taken from you?  I have!

My 5 year old chihuahua suddenly coughed and 3 hours later was dead from heart failure.  I was destroyed.  I gave myself pneumonia from heartache.  In turn I ended up saving a puppy mill pomeranian from Parvo and helped to close down a fraudulent vet clinic.  I also rescued 2 additional dogs in her place.  #lemonade

I am a Medical Marijuana Activist and built a very successful collective that helped many sick people have access to medicine.  I am one of the good guys and spent 7 years fighting to stay open so I could help people.  In the end I had to choose between being a person of my word or screwing someone over but I choose to walk away. Physical disabilities aside, closing my collective for no reason other than politics.  My heart ripped from my hands.  In turn I am now working on developing technology to help patients gain access, doing interviews and consulting to keep the cause moving in the right direction.

I lost 100 lbs at 19  and developed a love for physical fitness.  I was hit by a car in July of 2013 and my ability to do the activities I love was taken from me.  In turn I work every day to get better, to develop ways to stay strong and I am writing books to help others learn how to eat to better suit their recoveries, holistic cookbooks and self help books.

I have 100's of stories like the ones listed.  Its the story of my life.

It may seem like I am a judgemental person or like I am hard on people.  I know, I am certainly accused of holding grudges but I really don't see it that way.  I only have room for good people in my life. The bad just comes from living life. I am hard on people because I am hard on myself. If I can live morally so can you. I am hard on myself because I always believe I can be doing better.  I believe that the energy that you allow into your life plays a huge role in how much positive progress we make on our own self esteem.  I can not keep company with negativity or people who are not progressive and honest about their life.  I live with full transparency with nothing to hide.  I am direct with people and say it like it is. I treat the people I love with kindness so I keep that circle small because the amount of love I give to the people I care about takes an effort and is thoughtful and genuine.

My goal is to be able to experience this life and the world through self love and positivity. To help spread the message that life really is your choice no matter what comes your way!

Random Rants: Boycotts

Everytime I hear of a group of people protesting and screaming to boycott someone because of some reason or another, it makes me shake my head in wonder.  I wonder how people would think that by doing one negative behavior in exchange for another seemingly negative behavior that anything positive will actually become of it.  How can people not see that hate creates hate.  You create a breeding ground for not only the hate your spreading but for people who just love to hate.  A prime example of how boycotts backfire.  When everyone was screaming to boycott that Pizza Parlor who said that they didn't want to cater a gay wedding and then all of a sudden everyone who agreed with them or just loves to hate started raising money to support them.  There are people in this world who have a different opinion than yours.  A lot of their misconceptions about life are because they aren't educated or haven't experienced something first hand.  Screaming at others to hate on someone because they hate on something that is dear to you will only produce hate and not understanding and knowledge which is really the only solution to a lot of these causes.  If I was in charge of how to deal with that pizza parlor, I wouldn't have made a big huff about it at all.  I would urge every gay couple or person in town to make that pizza parlor their go to family spot. By becoming a patron and behaving like yourself, you would open the eyes of the owners of this place because once something becomes personal peoples opinions and behaviors will change.  After weeks of going to that pizza place and showing them what family and love and marriage means, "even to gays", I couldn't see them refusing to cater to a patron.  What they don't know is what they fear and it's much easier to find blame and a scapegoat for fear than it is to confront it and learn.  Lead by example and teach people by just being.  Not caring about what they think because you're going to keep being you, regardless of what they try to throw at you, is really the best solution in my personal opinion.
