Super Salad 🥗

Parsley, Avocado, Beets and Cucumbers

Dressing: 2 tsps @bragglivefoods Liquid Aminos
                 1 tsp Fresh Grated Ginger

The health benefits of this salad are incredible and there are so many that I couldn't possibly list them all.  Here's a little overview of health benefits:

1. Parsley: Reduced disk for cancer, helps control diabetes, and reduces inflammation and pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, along with helping prevent osteoporosis. It also acts as a pain reliever with anti-inflammatory properties. It can provide relief from gastrointestinal issues such as indigestion, stomach cramps, bloating, and nausea, while helping to strengthen the immune system.

2. Beets: Beets help lower blood pressure which comes from the naturally occurring nitrates in beets, which are converted into nitric oxide in your body. Nitric oxide, in turn, helps to relax and dilate your blood vessels, improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure. Beets are a unique source of betaine, a nutrient that helps protects cells, proteins, and enzymes from environmental stress. It's also known to help fight inflammation, protect internal organs, improve vascular risk factors, enhance performance, and likely help prevent numerous chronic diseases. They also help the body detox!

3. Avocado:  Recent studies have shown the addition of avocado to an already well-balanced diet lowers the risk of heart disease, improves blood levels of LDL, and lowers levels of oxidative stress in the bloodstream following consumption of food. They also help the body have a higher absorption rate of carotenoids which are pigments that help protect the body from diseases.

4. Cucumbers: Cucumbers are made up of 95 percent water, making them an ideal hydrating food. Cucumbers contain an anti-inflammatory flavonol called fisetin that plays an important role in your brain health. They also contain polyphenols called lignans, which may help to lower your risk of breast, uterine, ovarian, and prostate cancers

5. Liquid Aminos: Bragg Liquid Aminos is a non-GMO Project Verified liquid protein concentrate, derived from soybeans. It contains 16 naturally-occuring Essential and non essential Amino Acids

6. Ginger: helps with digestion and is known to boost bone health and relieve joint pain

To boost your immunity and improve your general overall health this is a great salad to add to your diet & it's delicious!

Anti-Inflammatory Latte Health Benefits

Raw Earth Medicine:

Anti-Inflammatory Latte

2 tbsp Honey
1 tbsp Cinnamon
1 tbsp Turmeric

8 oz Hot Liquid - water, tea, coffee

Put ingredients in bottom of a mug and pour the hot liquid over them and stir

Add a dash of nutmeg and vanilla to spice up this latte even more and Enjoy!

How it works:

1. Turmeric -

A potent anti-inflammatory spice, which protects against oxidative stress. Research has suggested that turmeric and its anti-oxidative ingredient, curcumin, can help reduce inflammation, help heal wounds, relieve pain, contribute to weight loss, prevent cancer and long term use has been known to change the bodies composition to continually reduce inflammation and improve cellular health.

2. Cinnamon -

Contains large amounts of highly potent polyphenol antioxidants which protect the body from oxidative damage caused by free radicals. The antioxidants in cinnamon have anti-inflammatory effects, which may also help lower the risk of disease. Cinnamon also has been known to suppress the appetite and can be used as an alternative to sugar and sweeteners.

3. Honey -

Possesses antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Honey has been known to help heal wounds, control acid reflux, reduce stomach inflammation and reduce allergy symptoms. (*studies are still being conducted to scientifically show the benefits on a molecular level but historically honey has been known to benefit the aforementioned ailments)

Combining Honey, Turmeric and Cinnamon creates a powerful anti inflammatory compound.  This compound has been known to reduce inflammation, swelling, pain, rheumatoid arthritis, gastric inflammation, improve circulation and is also a good tool for cancer prevention as it lowers oxidative stress from free radicals.

This should be a staple in your morning routine and you will feel the benefits within one week of daily consumption.

Count your blessings!

A few weeks ago I was feeling very down because of my hip, leg, neck and nerve damage, like why keep trying thoughts. Not my normal. I forced myself onto the bike and as I sat woe is me, this hurts, this sucks, I looked over at my garden and saw two butterflies entangled in a mid air dance around my blood orange tree. I stopped to videotape and captured one of them still dancing.  That moment gave light to my heart and my mind to be above myself, be beyond my pain and think more about the beauty in life.  Well.... yesterday, I noticed 4 sluggish looking creatures chilling on separate leaves in my blood orange tree!  Those butterflies were mating and now I get to witness the beauty in seeing these caterpillars become pupas and blossom into butterflies. I guess we  should all count our blessings where they come, no matter how big or how small. Have a great day!

Papaya is what's for breakfast!

They're not only beautifully vibrant and taste like the luscious tropics but they are a rich source of antioxidant nutrients such as carotenes, vitamin C and flavonoids; the B vitamins, folate and pantothenic acid; and the minerals, potassium, copper, and magnesium; and fiber.

Papaya is a natural remedy for many ailments, including atherosclerosis, heart disease, and rheumatoid arthritis, and they help keep your digestive and immune systems healthy. The flavonoid beta carotene in papaya has been proven in multiple studies to help protect against lung and mouth cancers. Other flavonoids in Papaya have potent antioxidant properties against free radicals and degenerative diseases.

Papayas contain 212 amino acids and several enzymes, including papain, a proteolytic enzyme that has an anti-inflammatory effect on the stomach, including  swelling and fever that can develop post-surgery. Papain helps proteins digest faster, which discourages acid reflux, and has proven it's effectiveness in treating ulcers and even relieving irritable bowel syndrome. Papaya seeds have been used in holistic medicine for decades to treat parasite and ringworm infections.

Papaya is really a super fruit and your body will thank you for eating it, with good health!
