Benefits of Turmeric

Have you had your Turmeric today?
.
.
This spice should be incorporated into your nutrition as much as possible. Turmeric comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant and has a tough brown skin and a deep orange flesh. Turmeric has long been used as a powerful anti-inflammatory in both the Chinese and Indian systems of medicine.
.
.
The yellow/orange pigment of turmeric, which is called curcumin, is thought to be the primary pharmacological agent in turmeric. In numerous studies, curcumin's anti-inflammatory effects have been shown to be comparable to the potent drugs hydrocortisone and celebrex, as well as over-the-counter anti-inflammatory agents such as Advil or Ibuprofen. Unlike the drugs, which are associated with significant toxic effects such as ulcer formation, decreased white blood cell count and intestinal bleeding, curcumin produces no toxicity.
.
.
Benefits of Turmeric:

Anti-Oxidant

Anti-Septic

Anti-Carcinogenic

Anti-inflammatory
.
.
Ailments, Treatments and Prevention:

An Effective Treatment for Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Relief for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Helps Cystic Fibrosis Sufferers

Cancer Prevention

Inhibits Cancer Cell Growth and Metastases

Reduces Risk of Childhood Leukemia

Improved Liver Function

Cardiovascular Protection
Anti Oxidant
Protection against Alzheimer's Disease
.
.
Turmeric should be a staple in your nutrition for the prevention and the treatment of many common ailments and diseases. It can be used as a spice in cooking or can be taken as a supplement in pill form.

Products We Love: Simply Organics Spice Packers

Products We Love: Simply Organic Spice Packets!

Cooking tip: Having these on hand helps make home cooking a little easier when you don't have the time to even think up a healthy meal! You can incorporate them into all types of recipes. The brown gravy can be used to spice and thicken up a mushroom risotto instead of cream and flour or use the fajita packet for a Spanish  Rice recipe. They're all natural non GMO lower sodium and are mildly processed!

Check out my Quinoa "Meatball" Recipe on YouTube that uses a spice packet. The recipe is super simple and easy to make.

Spend time with people who are good for your mental health!

Mental Health is one of the most important yet most ignored part of our existence.  There use to be a stigma about mental health issues and people who suffered from them were essentially shunned from the community or told to suppress it and hide it. This has culminated to where we are today living in a world where people are afraid to send their children to school because they could be shot by an unstable child or even an extremely disturbed adult.  Where suicide is no longer shocking and everyone is on a pill for anxiety, ADD, ADHD without the therapy needed to work through the cause.
.
.
Having grown up in a family with huge mental health issues that were just ignored, enabled or the person was medicated without any psychological help, I have learned that who you surround yourself with plays a huge part in your mental health. As the saying goes you can lead your family and friends to the psychiatrist but you can’t force them to drink the water!  Ok ok I made up that saying but it’s true.
.
.
As I navigate my way around motherhood and parenting I have watched my daughter positively and negatively react to people which shows me that some people are good for you and some aren’t.  If you’re working on your mental health and doing what you can to live a  positive productive life that can by all means include cutting people out who aren’t.  We all share energy and who you surround yourself with fuels some of the energy around you which helps guide you towards being happy inside and out.
.
.
So while I always try to give someone the benefit of the doubt or the opportunity to show me that they are working towards dealing with their issues, I honestly steer clear of people once I realize they have a negative affect on me or aren’t willing to do the work to get the help they need.
.
.
It’s very important for your own mental health to surround yourself with people who are good for you! The goal in life is to be happy and have fulfillment with your desires so surrounding yourself with people who are good for your mental health is one of the most helpful things you can do for yourself. Life is to short to spend time with shitty people.

Real Nutrition is Whole Foods Not A Powder

The fitness and health industry fascinates me. The majority of the people seeking guidance are overweight and diseased because of eating unhealthy yet the solution recommended to them is powdered protein, weird colored unnatural health drinks, synthetic and processed versions of vitamins and an unhealthy manipulation of micros and macros that usually promotes animal products which 100% lead to disease. The chemicals in these foods alone are so unhealthy not to mention harmful.  Fake food creates chemical reactions in the brain that contribute to irrational thoughts and relationships with food.
.
There is no reason for anyone to supplement with anything if they are properly preparing their foods and eating whole natural foods. If eating is what got you to your unhealthy state then the only way to make change is to change what you’re eating and fix your mental relationship with food. Proteins powders and weird colored “health” drinks are not the solution, it’s actually perpetuating the problem and creating even more health issues.
.
Our bodies are meant to eat natural Whole Foods to get everything we need for our body to operate in optimum health.  So instead of using fad products and meal replacements learn your genetic health triggers and what vitamins and nutrients are in real foods and eat what your body needs to prevent disease and maintain a healthy weight. Develop a healthy relationship with food that lasts and don’t look for quick results from miracle products. Any health professional that recommends protein powders, protein bars, synthetic drinks or anything besides whole natural foods is either selling that product for profit, is trying to get you quick results to continue making a profit off of advising you or doesn’t understand nutrition.
.

When you eat to prevent disease and feed your body the proper amount of micros, macros, essential minerals, and nutrients without chemicals and synthetic products, your body will regulate your weight naturally while strengthening all of your bodily systems so that you can live in good health for the long run. Healthy eating is a lifestyle choice that doesn’t come in a quick fix or a powdered scoop of fake food!
